Shimano M575 Deore Disk Brakes Print E-mail
Shimano M575Shimano’s M535 Deore disc brakes have been one of our favourite bargain brakes for a while now, but for 2009 they’ve also added this M575 version to the Deore line up and it looks even better value.

The main difference is the levers, which now come with a split clamp (a first for Shimano) and can be run either way up. The second difference is that they’re sold as a fully bled lever and calliper package, without a disc rotor.
This helps explain the even more ridiculously bargainous (I know that’s not a real word, but I like it) price, but it’ll also make more sense to people who either already have some old but perfectly useable rotors, or want to run bigger rotors than the M535 version comes with as standard.

They might not be the most beautiful or light brakes you can buy, but they’re certainly one of the cheapest and if past history is anything to go by the performance will be great.

Best Name Ever Print E-mail
Joe Smith, new Kona Clump rider18 year-old UK ripper, Joe Smith kick-starts Kona’s Downhill Team. Kona Bikes welcomes Montgomery UK’s Joe Smith to the 2009 Kona Factory DH Team. As a three-time Junior Welsh National Champ, and 2008 IXS European series winner, Joe’s racing record is impressive. A top 18 overall position at the Schladming World-Cup, top five as a Junior at Schladming, Bromont, Mont-Sainte-Anne, Fort William, and Valnord World Cups demonstrates Joe has what it takes to be a contending DH pro.

He’s quick, and with the right support from Kona this year he’s only going to get quicker. Joe will be riding a factory tricked Stab Supreme with Saint groupo. One of the big selling features of the young rider is that he likes all aspects of riding bikes, from XC to trailbuilding, a big deal over here at Kona, where all our staff ride day in day out. “He was mentored by Tracy Moseley from EUWIN as a young buck so it’s quite a natural transition, one we hope will re-energize the Kona DH program,” says Smiley Nesbitt, Kona’s Team Manager.

Professional coaching with winter training focused on developing Joe’s strength conditioning and race preparation will undoubtedly bear great results next season. Kona is looking forward to seeing Joe on the podium next summer. For more about Kona Bikes and the Clump visit konaworld.com Kona has been making race proven bikes for 20 years. Our record of past World Cup wins proves we know what we’re doing.

Nathan Rennie“I am super happy to be where I am in 2009. Not to mention that 9 is my favorite number, I am especially happy to be working with new people and working with people I already know.

I am impressed with everything so far and how fast the ball has got rolling. I’m stuck in training already and my knee feels good. It won’t be long before it will be 100%. I feel like the change for me is for the better for all parties and just want to get racing again. See you at the races.”
